AMSTERDAM. The military and commercial segments of the satellite communication industry are evolving, as the increase in small satellites, the use of low-Earth orbit (LEO), launches on reusable rocket launch vehicles, and new use cases for 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT) continue to change the market, according to a new study from Market Forecast, "Global Commercial and Military Satellite Communications Market and Technology Forecast to 2028.?
According to the study's authors, the military and commercial satellite market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 76.6% during the period 2020-2028, to a cumulative $195.11 billion.
Another of the study's findings is that micro-/nano-satellite market revenue is growing even faster than was forecast even three years ago, which led to the authors increasing their forecast by 25% for mature technologies, such as conformal antennas, communications on the move, and the use of gallium nitride (GaN) to enhance power delivery and/or reduce power consumption for the same level of throughput.
