Comms system for military vehicles from Persistent Systems and General Dynamics rolls at AUSA Now conference

AUSA NOW Virtual Conference 2020. Persistent Systems, together with General Dynamics Mission Systems, has announced the debut of a dual-band GVR5 mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) solution for military vehicles that enables users, the companies say, to seamlessly share voice, video, text, sensor, and location data while mobile without the need for infrastructure.
The ruggedized/hardened GVR5 operates simultaneously on two frequency bands (C/L, C/S, or L/S – bands) is designed specifically for hard-use infantry fighting vehicles that have unique power systems, ballistics, and gunfire shock requirements.
The GVR5 automatically routes communications over the best available band depending on geography and how busy the radio frequecies are. Shane Flint, vice president of business development at Persistent Systems, says " ... by leveraging the vehicle’s intercom system, it routes to tactical voice networks, such as SINCGARS, TACSAT, and HF.” The system also can connect to SATCOM or LTE modems in the vehicle to extend beyond-line-of-sight connectivity for dismounted users.
