FORT WORTH, Texas. Collins Elbit Vision Systems -- a joint venture between Collins Aerospace Systems and Elbit Systems of America -- has obtained a $22 million firm-fixed price contract for the production and delivery of Night Vision Cueing and Display (NVCD) systems for the U.S. Navy and for the governments of Australia and Switzerland.

The NVCD works in tandem with the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems (JHMCS) -- used by aviators flying the F/A-18 and E/A-18G combat jets -- to offer users innovative head-tracking technology, a helmet-mounted display that shows mission-critical symbology, and the ability to record video of what the aviator sees while using the system.

Dan Karl, co-general manager of CEVS, said of the system: “Providing the NVCD means warfighters are connected even in less-than-ideal situations, such as during nighttime, keeping them safe and aware of their surroundings."

The contracts call for work on the systems for the Navy and for Australia and Switzerland to be completed by February 2021.
