Industry announcements at Dubai Airshow expands Boeing's presence in Middle East

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates. At the Dubai Airshow, Boeing made a series of announcements that helped to expand its plans with the Middle East’s aerospace industry.
Dubai South and Boeing signed a Memorandum of Agreement at the Dubai Airshow, in which the company will establish a Middle East headquarters in the city’s Aviation District in 2017.
Boeing and Tawazun Precision Industries (TPI) also signed a contract to manufacture complex metallic machined parts for tactical aircraft at TPI’s new treatment facility that is currently under construction in Abu Dhabi.
Tata Advanced Systems and Boeing agreed on a joint venture to manufacture aerostructures and collaborated on integrated system development opportunities in India.
On the commercial aviation side, Jet Airways and Etihad Airways announced orders for 75 737 MAX 8s and two Boeing 777 freighters, respectively. Boeing 777 freighters are part of a 199 aircraft order set in 2013.
Boeing also collaborated with General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Emirates, and Etihad Airways to deliver a three-day student workshop conducted at Dubai South headquarters. Its aim was to attract UAE youth into the industry.
