DoD C4ISR market revenue to benefit from COTS and IoT systems - News

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. Analysts at Frost & Sullivan say they expect U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) spending to be flat through 2020 due to force structure reductions. However, activity and revenues should increase for the application of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)-based computing, security, storage, networking, and collaboration tools. Internet of Things (IoT) systems along with cloud and big data technologies will be necessary to complement the adoption of COTS-based smart phones, tablets, wireless networks and productivity applications of all kinds.

Officials at the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) announced the organization will be hosting a Proposers’ Day Conference for the Hybrid Forecasting Competition (HFC) program on February 3, 2016, as part of the build up to the release of a new solicitation supporting the program.

Amos Deacon Jr., of Phoenix International Systems, passes away - Story

December 18, 2015
My first meeting with Amos Deacon Jr., founder of Phoenix International Systems, was in the mid-1990s at the old AFCEA Technet show in Washington. With his big booming voice, firm handshake, and arm around my shoulder he made an impression and made me a friend instantly during my first year in the military electronics industry. A more loyal friend in this business you could not find. Unfortunately we lost Amos and his big heart last month when he passed away from cancer at age 82.

C-130 radios to get upgrades from Raytheon - News

MCKINNEY, Texas. Raytheon won a $29.6 million Air Force upgrade contract to install MXF-626K VHF Communications Systems on 178 C-130H Hercules aircraft. This upgrade makes sure C-130 radios comply with newly adopted European Air Traffic Management requirements by enabling 8.33 kilohertz (kHz) channel spacing in the range of 118 to 137 megahertz (MHz).

U.S. Marine Corps officials selected SAIC in McLean, Virginia, and Land & Armaments LP in Sterling Heights, Michigan, for the Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) phase contracts of the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) 1.1 program. Each contract calls for solution is to be built from the ground up to be an amphibious vehicle.

GE embedded will be called Abaco Systems - Blog

As many of you know GE announced it was selling its embedded business to Veritas capital, a venture capital firm in New York City earlier this fall and the organization of about 700 employees would form a new company in January, 2016. Company officials say the deal is expected to close soon, but in the meantime they have announced their new name.... Abaco Systems.
