Altair acquires simulation design firm SIMSOLID
NewsOctober 17, 2018
TROY, Mich. Design-software maker Altair Engineering has acquired SIMSOLID, whose products work on CAD assemblies to provide fast, accurate, and robust structural simulation without requiring geometry simplification, cleanup, or meshing.
Altair's engineering software -- which uses simulation, machine learning, and optimization throughout product life cycles -- is used in industries including aerospace, IoT, and electronic design analysis.
According to a news release from Altair regarding the acquisition, the SIMSOLID computational engine, a commercial implementation of novel and unpublished mathematics based on extensions to the theory of external approximations, controls solution accuracy using multipass adaptive analysis, making it extremely fast and memory-efficient and enabling large and complex assemblies to be solved rapidly, even on laptop computers.
