British army, SparkCognition team up to streamline AI applications for defense

AUSTIN. British army and SparkCognition officials entered an agreement to provide a collaborative thought leadership on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in future warfare. This partnership focuses on how operations can be streamlined using AI technologies today.
Specifically, the AI company's Defense team will consult with the British army on the role of machine learning in military applications and contribute to research on future military planning.
"We live in an era of constant competition, in a security environment that is constantly evolving and is increasingly complex, dynamic and unstable. To be successful, it is essential the British army continues to be forward-looking and technologically advanced, ready for the challenges of the future, both at home and overseas," says Colonel James Cook, Assistant Head of Strategic Concepts for the British army.
The project between SparkCognition, the British army, and Ministry of Defense will be coordinated through RED Scientific, a technical support and consulting company.
"Military operations must always anticipate the next step," explains Wendy Anderson, General Manager of Defense at SparkCognition. "Given the close alliance between the U.S. and the U.K., it makes sense to work together to tackle the global issue of AI applications in warfare."
