HAIFA, Israel. Elbit Systems UK, the UK subsidiary of Elbit Systems, has won a contract worth approximately $137 million (approximately 100 million pounds) with Britain's Defense Ministry to provide the British armed forces with the future target-acquisition solution for Joint Terminal Attack Controllers and Fire Support Teams under the Dismounted Joint Fires Integrators (D-JFI) program.

The D-JFI solution -- according to a statement from the company -- is a networked passive and active target-acquisition tool powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that acquires, generates, and communicates target information to effector systems for engagement of joint precision and nonprecision fires. D-JFI will work by integrating several of Elbit's technologies -- including the TORCH-XT Battle Management Application, the Hattorix system for undetectable generation of high-precision targets, the CORAL Multi-Spectral electro-optical payload for enhanced day/night target acquisition, and the Rattler XR long-range laser designator to enable fast, secure transmission of target information across British and allied forces for swift and accurate artillery and close air support.

The contract is set to be fulfilled over a five-year period.
