AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2019--CHICAGO. Cepton Technologies (San Jose, California) unveiled the newest entrant in its SORA family of scanning LIDAR sensors at the AUVSI Xponential trade show: the SORA-P60L, which is aimed at delivering long-range, high-resolution imaging for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The SORA-P60L's 400 Hz frame rate and 550-gram payload, say company officials, enables drones to fly faster, prolong UAV flight time, and cover more ground in a single trip. Cepton’s offering faces all lasers downward at all times, providing a uniform point cloud more than four times denser than other solutions. Together with the high scan rate, the SORA-P60L is intended for use with for fixed-wing and fast-moving rotary-wing UAVs.
“Cepton’s SORA-P60L leads the LIDAR industry with its best-in-class point cloud density that provides superior imaging for UAVs. With the affordable price point, long-range capabilities, and high frame rate of SORA-P60L, UAVs can capture data faster and build more accurate maps,” said Neil Huntingdon, Cepton's VP of business development.
