Delta Digital Video’s Rugged Encoders to Support Unmanned Aircraft System Fleet
Press ReleaseJuly 14, 2022
HORSHAM, Pennsylvania. Delta Digital Video, a Delta Information Systems, Inc. company, has been selected to support a defense corporation in providing operational and maintenance (O&M) services to a fleet of MQ-9 Predator B Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
Based on Delta’s high-performance H.265 video compression architecture, Delta Digital Video designed a custom 4-channel H.265 HD/SD unit for this application which will be integrated into the UAS to provide long-endurance Intelligence, Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition support to border security operations. The encoder was designed to compress video and audio signals and multiplex them with metadata and other system information for real- time video transmission applications. Intended for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) applications, the encoder is capable of simultaneously encoding four channels of video with resolutions up to 1080p. Using the H.265 (HEVC) video compression algorithm, our encoder provides high-quality video transmission at various resolutions and a wide range of bandwidths. The H.265 compression algorithm takes advantage of highly bit-efficient coding to provide encoded streams at nearly half the bandwidth of its H.264 (AVC) predecessor.
“Delta continuously strives to stay in front of the latest technology through aggressive research and development,” said George Nelson, Vice President / General Manager of Delta Digital Video. “Our next generation H.265 product line provides optimal performance and reliability to ensure the successful delivery of full motion video for mission critical applications.”
