Updated $208.3 million sensor addition will boost F-15 threat tracking ability

CHICAGO. The Boeing Co. has won a contract with the U.S. Air Force (USAF) -- worth a potential $208.3 million -- to provide sensors designed to help F-15 fighter aircraft pilots detect and track airborne threats.
In the initial portion of the contract, the U.S. Department of Defense will obligate $154.6 million to procure Legion Pod infrared search-and-track pods from Boeing; the initial contract runs through November of 2020. The Legion Pod is designed to recognize targets in radar-denied environments.
Lockheed Martin had previously announced that it expects to receive a contract from Boeing before the end of 2018 to help build the aircraft sensors.
