PARIS, EUROSATORY 2018. Lockheed Martin announced at the Eurosatory exhibition that the Qatar Emiri air force (QEAF) had selected the Lockheed Martin Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) for the QEAF Rafale aircraft.

Under the terms of the announced contract, Lockheed Martin will provide the QEAF with pods, spares, and deployment support for the Rafale; Lockheed Martin reports that integration is ongoing, with flight tests currently in progress.

According to Lockheed Martin documents, Sniper ATP detects, identifies, automatically tracks, and laser-targets small tactical objectives at long ranges and is capable of using all laser- and GPS-guided weapons against multiple fixed and moving targets. Sniper ATP is in use on many U.S. Air Force and multinational platforms, including F-2, F-15, F-16, F-18, A-10, B-1, B-52, Harrier, and Typhoon aircraft.

Pod deliveries to the QEAF, say Lockheed Martin officials, will begin in 2019.
