Cambridge Pixel sensor fusion technology integrated with Hyperstar C2/ABI system

CAMBRIDGE, UK. Engineers at Suritec have integrated the Cambridge Pixel SPx Fusion video and display software into the Hyperstar Command & Control (C2) Activity-Based Intelligence (ABI) system. SPx fusion enables fusing primary radar video tracks with Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) and Automatic Identification System (AIS) data from ship and aircraft transponders. This capability will improve target validation and reduce information on the operator display of the Hyperstar system.
The Hyperstar software architecture is used to overlay sensor and geo-referenced data in a coordinated display. The SPx Fusion “module of expertise” was integrated into the Hyperstar architecture to assist in combining data from the same source into a single track for radar visualization, radar video distribution, plot extraction, and target tracking applications.
“[Cambridge Pixel’s] flexible integration architecture allows us to buy just the “modules of expertise” we need – in this case SPx Fusion and SPx Scan – to support the processing and display of radar video, sensor fusion, and scan conversion of primary radar video,” says Ryno Goosen, Managing Director, Suritec. “By integrating Cambridge Pixel’s best-of-breed software code into Hyperstar we have cut our development time and costs massively,” he adds.
The SPx Fusion sensor fusion technology is also equipped with processing and display components that can be used with multicore processors and Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) for the capture and presentation of radar video.
