Boeing provides AWACS upgrade/support to Japan per USAF delivery order

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing Co., Defense, Space and Security in Kent, WA a nearly $8.5 million delivery order under an ID/IQ contract for Japan Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft Mission Computing Upgrade (MCU)/electronic support measures requirements planning program.
The Foreign Military Sales-inclusive contract’s delivery order covers export licensing planning, program risk assessment, trade studies, MCU demonstration, modeling and simulation analyses, and diminished manufacturing sources sustainment support planning and monitoring, for the Japan Air Self Defense Force.
Contract work occurs in Kent, WA by Dec. 2014. The contracting activity is the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center/HBSK, Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts.
AWACS aircraft render situational awareness of hostile, neutral, and friendly activity in addition to providing C2 for areas of responsibility, battle space surveillance at all attitudes and weather conditions, theater forces’ battle management, and warnings of enemy actions in the course of allied, joint, and coalition operations.
