Army contracts with Chemring for ground-penetrating radar upgrade

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Chemring Sensors and Electronic Systems, the U.S. subsidiary of the U.K.-based Chemring Group, has won a contract from the U.S. Army to supply 10 ground-penetrating radar trial systems.
The Army will evaluate the systems, which incorporate Chemring's enhanced-detection-technology capabilities. If the Army's trials succeed, the move could lead to upgrades of the U.S. Army's Husky Mounted Detection System (HMDS) inventory.
The HMDS is designed to enhance soldiers' ability to detect improvised explosive devices and antitank mines along busy battle roads.
