U.S. Army grants Elbit $102 million contract for mortar fire control systems

FORT WORTH, Tx. Elbit Systems of America, a subsidiary of Israel's Elbit Systems, has won a U.S. Army contract to provide field mortar fire control systems. If fully utlilized, the indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract could extend to a five-year period and have a maximum value of $102 million.
Elbit Systems of America's mortar fire control systems for the U.S. Army -- the company has been providing these systems for the Army since 2009 -- consist of the Mortar Fire Control Systems Mounted (MFCS-M), Mortar Fire Control Systems Dismounted (MFCS-D), and a lightweight handheld mortar ballistic computer. These systems, says the company, enable soldiers to position the weapon, lock on target, and engage the enemy in minimal time.
