Defense sector IT acquisitions continue

HERNDON, Va. and LA DEFENSE, France. Acquisitions are in the news with the recent announcement that ManTech International would acquire IT solutions provider InfoZen (Bethesda, Maryland) for $180 million in cash and another announcement that Thales has closed its acquisition of U.S. big data analyst Guavus (San Mateo, California).
According to ManTech officials, InfoZen brings domain expertise in modernization, agile/DevOps software development, cloud migration, and threat monitoring and assessment capabilities in support of critical national and homeland security missions. InfoZen's customer already has long-standing relationships with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). ManTech currently has no debt and will fund the acquisition from cash on hand with additional funding from its existing line of credit.
A Thales press release regarding its acquisition of Guavus cites Guavus's expertise in real-time big data analytics as the reason for the buy; Thales officials say that the acquisition will address the growing needs of the increasingly connected global ecosystem. Guavus, says Thales, has built a recognized industrial big data platform that is particularly adapted to real-time analytics and designed to be easily implemented across any number of markets, including in Thales's current arenas of aeronautics, space, rail signaling, defense, and security.
