ATLANTA. Scientific Research Corp. has won a $95 million contract with the 16th Air Force organization to support both command-and-control and service cryptologic element roles.

The contract -- dubbed the Full Spectrum Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Operational Non-Appropriated Funds Support (FUSIONS) -- is the second award the company has garnered with a U.S. service branch; in 2018, the U.S. Navy signed a contract with Scientific Research for similar work.

According to information from the U.S. Navy, the 16th clarified its mission in 2019 by merging an Air Force cyber mission with an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) component; the newly reformed 16th is responsible for providing information warfare capabilities to combatant commanders with the speed to match today's technological environment.

Another piece of the FUSIONS contract -- according to the original solicitation by the 16th Air Force -- sought to identify “new or unexploited information systems,” as well as “unique friendly, enemy, or neutral information sources,” with the goal of turning that information into useful intelligence that can be transmitted and shared over existing Department of Defense (DoD) networks.

Most of the work under the terms of the FUSIONS contract is set to be performed at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) in Lackland, Texas, with a completion date of February 2026.
