ORLANDO. Cubic Corp. announced that its Cubic Global Defense (CGD) business division received eight additional delivery orders -- totaling $16 million -- under an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract to deliver immersive game-based courseware to support the U.S. Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). Cubic's Orlando facility is responsible for the development efforts of the Immersive Virtual Shipboard Environment (IVSE) for LCS, in tandem with the U.S. Navy's Ready Relevant Learning initiative.
Cubic's IVSE is an advanced learning product for the LCS training program that immerses trainees in a photorealistic, 3D virtual environment to run through various tasks in settings that are virtually identical to real-life scenarios. The Navy will gain new functionality and virtual content for the current LCS virtual training environment as a result of the additional orders received under the Cubic ID/IQ.
Dave Buss, president of Cubic Global Defense, said of the contract update: "We are pleased to continue our support for the U.S. Navy with the creation of virtual and immersive training courseware that aligns with our NextTraining strategy. The additional delivery orders underscore our commitment to providing the Navy with innovative, cost-effective training solutions that are aligned with the Chief of Naval Operations' vision of achieving high-velocity learning through 21st-century technology."
