HUNTSVILLE, Ala. Abaco Systems has won an initial award of $900,000 for a design -- with a lifetime potential win of several million dollars -- for a ground control interface that will support the U.S. Space Force's Protected Tactical Satellite (PTS) Communication Program.
The PTS, according to Abaco documents, is a next-generation antijamming satellite communication system that aims to support warfighters around the world.
Included in the Abaco win is the Abaco VP868 FPGA [field-programmable gate array] card, a high-performance 6U OpenVPX-compliant plug-in module with advanced digital signal processing capabilities, intended for use in applications needing high-performance processing and I/O with the ability to scale from the lab to deployed rugged environments. Also included in this initial contract is the FMC172 FPGA mezzanine card, which the company says enables high performance, low latency, and high sample rates.
The boards covered under this contract win will be delivered between now and 2023.
