Harris will supply its AN/PRC-158 Manpack radios as part of $12.7 billion multi-award contract

ROCHESTER, N.Y. U.S. Army officials selected Harris as one of three companies to supply Handheld, Manpack, and Small Form-Fit (HMS) Manpack radios. The multi-award IDIQ contract has a five-year base with an additional five-year option period with an estimated ceiling value of $12.7 billion.
Under contract, Harris will provide the AN/PRC-158 multichannel radio for dismounted and mounted Manpack configurations. U.S. Army officials aim to acquire approximately 65,000 radios and full rate production is expected to start in Harris’ fiscal 2017 fourth quarter, officials say.
The HMS Manpack radio has SRW, SINCGARS, and MUOS SATCOM waveforms while maintaining interoperability with legacy waveforms.
The selection follows the U.S. government’s decision to open the HMS Manpack competition to technically compliant, commercially developed radios. Rockwell Collins and General Dynamics are part of the multi-award contract.
