U.S. Army Apache sustainment contract won by Lockheed Martin

ORLANDO, FL. The U.S. Army awarded Lockheed Martin a Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract the end of last year for sustainment of the Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (M-TADS/PNVS) system for the AH-64 Apache helicopter. The PBL contract is valued at $92 million.
This PBL program also enables efficiencies in supply chain management and critical sustainment support worldwide. During its peak operational tempo of more than 200,000 flying hours, the Apache M-TADS/PNVS PBL program on average had a worldwide supply availability rate of about 98 percent.
M-TADS/PNVS enables Apache helicopter pilots to have long-range precision engagement and pilotage capabilities such as avionics for mission operations and flight safety in day, night, and in adverse weather conditions. Its forward-looking infrared (FLIR) sensors deliver enhanced image resolution that allows Apache aircrews to go after targets and enable situational awareness for support of ground troops that are outside detection ranges. More than 1,200 M-TADS/PNVS systems have been delivered to the Army and other international users.
This is the second of three one-year options that support the initial $111 million PBL contract awarded in 2012. The total four-year contract value is $375 million.
