CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. Collins Aerospace Systems (a unit of Raytheon Technologies) has received several orders for its updated visual display system (VDS), the Griffin-2, from two undisclosed fast-jet programs in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Griffin-2 builds on the company's prior Griffin rear-projected dome to enable ultra-high resolution, brightness, and contrast for its 360-degree immersive training experience for military fast jets, according to information from the company. The Griffin-2 VDS integrated display and image generator is designed with an open architecture that enables users to employ multiple projector types and easily modify and upgrade the system for more tailored exercises.
Collins Aerospace has agreed to deliver 20 systems over the next five years, with continued support through 2030.
