WALTHAM, Mass. and BURLINGTON, Vt. Raytheon Technologies and GLOBALFOUNDRIES (GF) will collaborate to develop and commercialize a new gallium nitride on silicon (GaN-on-Si) semiconductor that will aim to enable radio frequency performance for 5G and 6G mobile and wireless infrastructure applications.

YUMA, Ariz. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI) demonstrated enhanced situational awareness and targeting capability for ground forces during a company-funded technology demonstration at Yuma Proving Grounds, Arizona.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. Collins Aerospace and Raytheon Technologies have been selected by Lockheed Martin to provide avionics for NASA’s X-59 Quiet SuperSonic Technology (QueSST) aircraft. Collins Aerospace will aim to help the aircraft’s pilot fly and land in all weather conditions without any forward-looking windows.

GERMANY. HENSOLDT has won an additional order under the German Air Force’s Quadriga procurement program for 38 Eurofighter combat aircraft. In the context of the Quadriga program, HENSOLDT has been commissioned by the European EuroRADAR consortium to produce and deliver radar electronic components.

EUROPE. a4ESSOR S.A.S (Alliance for ESSOR), a multi-national joint venture to develop European Secure Software-Defined Radio (ESSOR) technology, announced it has achieved formal acceptance for its High Data Rate (HDR) Base Waveform which has been developed under the European Secure Software defined Radio-Operational Capability 1 (ESSOR OC1) contract signed with Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en matière d’ARmement (OCCAR).

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. The 96th Test Wing took part in a series of flight tests using a 19-foot unmanned aircraft launched from Tyndall Air Force Base from April 29 to May 5. Inside the aircraft, the Autonomy Core System (ACS), identified as the “brain” of the autonomous aircraft, made its first three flights for the Autonomous Attritable Aircraft Experiment.

WILSONVILLE, Ore. FLIR Systems, Inc. announced that it has received more than $70 million in new orders for its advanced ground robots from the U.S. Armed Services. The U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps placed orders for nearly 600 FLIR Centaur robots, including additional spares, antennas, and payload mounting kits.

AUSTIN, Texas. SparkCognition Government Systems (SGS), an artificial intelligence (AI) company devoted entirely to government and national defense, announced that along with Intrinsic Enterprises Inc, a technology services and product development company, it has won a contract with The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) through its SBIR program.

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. Teams within the Force Protection and Special Programs Divisions supplied and integrated the 325th Security Forces Squadron with four prototype Quad-legged Unmanned Ground Vehicles, sometimes referred to as ‘robotic dogs’. They are semi-autonomous robots that can provide surveillance and perimeter security in difficult terrain or in harsh or unsafe conditions.

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation, announced that it completed a demonstration of its MOSAIC Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar system in September with the U.S. Air Force during its Combat Lancer 2020 exercise.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. Northrop Grumman Corporation has been contracted by the U.S. Navy to prototype and reduce the risk of integrating sense and avoid (SAA) capabilities into the high-altitude, long-endurance MQ-4C Triton autonomous system. This capability will aim to allow the Triton to safely operate in shared airspace with manned aircraft.

MELBOURNE, Fla. L3Harris Technologies and Air Tractor have teamed to produce the AT-802U Sky Warden, a production-ready aircraft designed for airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and other missions in extreme combat environments.

Persistent Systems, company specializing in mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) solutions, announced that it will be supplying Martin UAV, an industry partner whose V-BAT VTOL unmanned aircraft system was just selected for the Navy's Mi2 program, with MPU5 and Embedded Module networking devices over the coming years.

HELSINKI. ICEYE announced that the commercial availability of wide area imaging capabilities covering 10,000 km² data acquisitions with its synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation.

GERMANY. In the frame of the German ‘Quadriga’ fighter replacement program, sensor solution specialist HENSOLDT announced that it will deliver core components of the Eurofighter/Typhoon’s self-protection system Praetorian.

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. The Skyborg leadership team announced that it conducted a flight test of the Skyborg autonomy core system (ACS) aboard a Kratos UTAP-22 tactical unmanned vehicle at Tyndall AFB, Florida.
 

HUNT VALLEY, Md. Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. company, announced the unveiling of Cottonmouth, a vehicle purpose-built for the U.S. Marine Corps’ Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV) program.
