SIMI VALLEY, Calif. AeroVironment, Inc. introduced Crysalis, the company’s next-generation ground control solution. Crysalis is an integrated hardware and software-based ground control system (GCS) that is designed to provide command and control of compatible AeroVironment unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and their payloads, through an intuitive user experience (UX).

UNITED KINGDOM. HENSOLDT U.K. announced it will be supplying Kelvin Hughes Mk11 SharpEye surface search radars with combined HENSOLDT MSSR 2000 IFF systems to the French Navy Patrouilleur d’Outre-Mer or POM program being built by Socarenam Shipyard in France. The POM program provides six offshore patrol vessels for the French overseas territories.

WICHITA, Kan. Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. and Fiber Materials, Inc., subsidiaries of Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc., and Albany Engineered Composites, a subsidiary of Albany International Corp., have formally entered a technical collaboration agreement to deliver a suite of differentiated technical and industrialized solutions to support hypersonic program developments.

UNITED KINGDOM. Officials from the Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced that soldiers from the 20th Armored Infantry Brigade used an artificial intelligence (AI) engine designed to provide information on the surrounding environment and terrain during a recent exercise.

WASHINGTON. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) announced that three teams of researchers led by Raytheon, BAE Systems, and Northrop Grumman have been selected to develop event-based infrared (IR) camera technologies under the Fast Event-based Neuromorphic Camera and Electronics (FENCE) program.

ARLINGTON, Va. BAE Systems received a contract from the Space and Missile Systems Center’s Space Production Corps to deliver M-Code Military GPS technology to Germany.

EUROPE. The consortium behind iMUGS (integrated Modular Unmanned Ground System), a project with the goal of developing the European standard for unmanned ground system (UGS), demonstrated the results of the first phase of the project: deploying unmanned systems to the battlefield and teaming them with manned units and vehicles. The demonstration was spearheaded by Milrem Robotics.

HELSINKI. ICEYE announced the successful launch of four ICEYE SAR satellites. They were launched into orbit on SpaceX's Falcon 9 small satellite rideshare mission via EXOLAUNCH. 

NETHERLANDS. Airbus will place a dedicated Ultra High Frequency (UHF) military communications hosted payload on board the EUTELSAT 36D telecommunications satellite. As a provider of military satellite communications (milsatcom) services in Europe, Airbus will aim to offer a new UHF communications service to the armed forces, particularly those of European countries and NATO allies.

JESSUP, Md. UAV Solutions, Inc. (UAVS) announced the company delivered and trained Special Operations Forces Operators on its AsUAS Ghost 60 Multi-Rotor system. The Ghost 60 system was selected by the Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD), formerly the Counter Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO), for their Affordable small UAS (AsUAS) program in January 2020.

NEW YORK, N.Y. Persistent Systems has announced that it has completed work on its $5.4 million contract with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command C5ISR Center to develop protected communications for Manned-Unmanned Teams (MUM-T).

FALLS CHURCH, Va. Northrop Grumman Corporation will install more Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasure (LAIRCM) systems on United States and international fixed-wing and rotary wing aircraft under a $146 million order from the U.S. Air Force.

UNITED KINGDOM. The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has awarded a five year contract to BAE Systems to provide a data management system to multiple ships in the Royal Navy fleet including the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers, Type 45 destroyers, and the new Type 26 frigates.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Collins Aerospace, company specializing in developing open systems architecture avionics, recently received new Conformance Certificates from The Open Group Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) for two software products. Collins Aerospace is a unit of Raytheon Technologies Corp.

ISRAEL. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. announced that its Trophy Active Protection System (APS) for armored vehicles has been selected for the next phase of detailed assessment and integration by the U.K. Ministry of Defense (MoD) for the Army’s Challenger 3 MBT.

HOUSTON, Texas. KBR won a $194.3 million task order to research, develop, test, and analyze the design and fabrication of microelectronics components, verifying and validating their trustworthiness for the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Trusted Electronics Branch (RYDT).

RESTON, Va. Leidos announced it has won a prime contract by the U.S. Air Force to provide solutions for a broad spectrum of aviation requirements. Leidos claims it will support the Air Force's Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance & Special Operations Forces (ISR/SOF) Directorate (WI), Sensors Division (WIN) Non-Standard Foreign Military Sales (FMS) branches.

DALLAS, Texas and HILLSBORO, Ore. COMSovereign Holding Corp., a U.S.-based developer of 4G LTE Advanced and 5G Communication Systems and Solutions, and Radisys Corporation, company specializing in open telecom solutions, announced their strategic technology partnership designed to deliver customers new, end-to-end telecommunications solutions.

MCLEAN, Va. Iridium Communications Inc. announced it has won a research and development (R&D) contract worth up to $30 million by the U.S. Army (Army) to develop a payload to be hosted on small satellites that supports navigation systems, guidance and control for the global positioning system (GPS) and GPS-denied precision systems.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. Northrop Grumman Corporation has flight demonstrated its new Terracotta sensor, which is designed to be a fully-digital open mission systems (OMS)-compliant wideband active electronically scanned array (AESA).
