NewsApril 12, 2021
DUBLIN. The global use of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in the defense arena, valued at $39.22 billion in 2018, is projected to grow at a combined annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.04% to reach $61 billion by 2027, according to a study by Research and Markets, "Global Artificial Intelligence & Robotics for Defense, Market & Technology Forecast to 2027."
Demand for AI robotics systems in defense is anticipated to be driven by the massive investment made by countries like the U.S., China, Russia, and Israel as these nations develop next-generation defense systems; it will also grow due to large-scale procurement of such systems by countries including Saudi Arabia, India, Japan, and South Korea.
In terms of categories of spending, robotics is expected to account for the highest proportion of spending, followed by markets for computer vision, natural-language processing, and social media analysis; the heavy spending on robotics is projected because of large-scale procurement of robotics for defense by countries in the Asia-Pacific region, North America, and Europe.
